Editorial Standards

Deep Dive Central covers Indian markets, business, technology, food and style. This page describes how that coverage is produced, so you can judge how much weight to give it.
How we choose stories
We publish daily. The test for a story is not whether it happened but whether the obvious explanation for it is the right one — an index falling on the day a company reports good numbers, a profit that comes from a revaluation rather than the business, a “recovery” built entirely on old stock. Where we cannot find a gap between the headline and the mechanism, we do not run the piece.
Sourcing
- Figures come from primary sources wherever they exist: company filings and results, exchange and index announcements, and regulator releases from SEBI, RBI, FSSAI and the ministries.
- We name the source and the period for every number we quote, because “profit rose 83%” means nothing without knowing against what.
- Third-party research and market-size estimates are labelled as estimates, not presented as fact.
- We never reproduce text or data verbatim from other outlets or from press releases.
- Historical claims in the daily panel are checked against a primary or well-established secondary source. Where a date cannot be verified, we use a different event rather than approximating.
Images
Every image is freely licensed for commercial use and modification — CC0, public domain, CC BY or CC BY-SA — with the creator, source and licence shown alongside it. NonCommercial and NoDerivatives material is rejected outright. Where a picture is a generic stand-in rather than the subject itself, it is labelled “Illustrative”. Historical entries carry a picture only when it depicts the actual subject.
What this is not
Nothing here is investment advice, and we are not registered investment advisers. Market coverage is journalism and commentary: we do not recommend buying or selling any security, quote target prices, or take positions in what we cover. See our disclosures for affiliate relationships and the full financial-content notice.
Corrections
We correct errors of fact in place and note the change on the piece rather than quietly editing it. If you have found one, tell us via the contact page with the article and the specific claim, and we will check it against the primary source.
AI use
Drafting is assisted by automated tools, working from the sources described above and against the rules on this page. Every piece is reviewed by a human before it is published — nothing reaches the site unread. The standards above apply regardless of how a draft was produced, and we are accountable for everything published under this masthead.
